The CAM Academy Trust School Websites
Challenge: The CAM Academy Trust was running a suite of school websites on an older CMS that had become restrictive for staff and limiting for the trust. Many editors across the schools already had experience with WordPress, so the brief was not to force a new way of working, but to give them a stronger WordPress foundation. The trust needed common features available across every site, while still allowing each school to feel recognisably individual through its own branding, colours, imagery, and content.
Solution: We developed a bespoke WordPress theme with Advanced Custom Fields, flexible page-building panels, and reusable templates to support the main trust website and the wider school network. Shared functionality includes vacancies, calendars, term dates, policy pages, staff listings, contact forms, downloadable files, alerts, and structured homepage sections. We also built an Our Schools section for the main trust website, with school profiles, logos, contact details, map coordinates, filtering, and links out to each school site. Central trust content can be reused through controlled templates, reducing duplication for key areas such as policies, governance, online safety, and vacancies.
Results: The platform gives The CAM Academy Trust a consistent, maintainable system across its schools without flattening every site into the same design. Editors can continue working in WordPress, trust-wide functionality can be rolled out more consistently, and each school can keep the details that make it feel like its own community. The result is a practical education platform that is easier to manage, easier to extend, and better suited to the way trust and school teams actually work.
